Community Organized Support & Prevention (COSP)

Self Esteem Enhancement Development (SEED)

The Self-Esteem Enhancement Development (SEED) program is a group designed exclusively for girls 12 to 17 years of age.

All young people experience various degrees of difficulty during the stages of maturity. However, adolescent girls encounter unique challenges which, if left unresolved, may affect their potential for future success.

By offering positive and helpful information about issues that are important, and increasing awareness of local community resources, individuals who complete the SEED program will be better able to respond to the changes in their lives.

Goal:

Our goal is to bring girls together in a stimulating group atmosphere where participants can discover their strengths and abilities, while learning positive personal and social skills in an encouraging environment.

What did you like about the program?

“1. Crafts, 2. Learning experiences, 3. Information and lessons learned”

“The craft and peer pressure session. Thank you for coming and letting me learn.”

“The relationship information”

“How comfortable I felt in the room.”

“I like the session about body image and self-esteem.”

“I really enjoyed this program. I think it really brought us together. I learned a lot and was comfortable here. You made it a lot of fun and I’m glad I’m here.”

“I loved the positive affirmations!! They’re up on my wall with other quotes that I love.”

What did you learn about yourself while in the SEED/Youthreach program?

“1. That I can handle my anger and control it, 2. That I know the dangers of an unhealthy relationship –both intimate and not, 3. That I am important and I am loved.”

“I learned that I am beautiful no matter what people say.”

“I learned that I am in a non-abusive relationship.”

“Just to say, no.”

“That I am unique in my own way. I am somebody and I am loved. I am beautiful and should feel good in my own skin. I’m me.”
