A Community Service Order requires participants
to donate a specified number of hours of volunteer work
to the community.
The success of the CSO program can be largely
credited to the support it receives from community agencies
and organizations. Every time an agency accepts a client
to perform volunteer work, it supports the rehabilitation
of the offender-the client is given an opportunity to contribute
to society by working for the community. This involvement
gives the client a chance to develop positive attitudes,
self-confidence, new interests, better work habits and inter-personal
skills.
